Colors of the West
This pristine home is positioned for the appreciation of striking eastern views and styled with distinctively western architectural elements. A pitched roof creates airy, voluminous ceiling space in the central living and dining area, which also features sturdy triangulated beams and dormer-style clerestory windows that creating dimension and admit generous natural light. Glass-paneled French doors maximize the views and lead to a tiled portal with iron balustrades and split-rail banisters as well as a lower-level enclosed patio with a hot tub and a dining area. The entry’s cylindrical-shaped water feature is mirrored in the guest powder room, which was designed to create the sensation that the room is located at the bottom of a well. Wide arches and coved ceilings throughout the home soften and balance the recurring strength of square-cut vigas and rough-hewn beams. A “river” of dark slate tiles leads to each of the bedroom wings, which were fashioned with wood floors and diamond plaster walls of various tempered hues. The two guest bedrooms—one featuring a fireplace and other a bay window with a banco—have generous reach-in closets and share a full bath. The master suite has a bay window alcove, access to a private portal, an artisanal kiva, a spacious walk-in closet, and a full bath. Other highlights include a den, an office, a utility room, and fully equipped kitchen with Shaker-style built-ins.
